MCL Invests ₹4.56 Cr to Strengthen Odisha’s Startup Ecosystem
The project’s main focus is empowering women entrepreneurs
Odisha’s startup culture is gaining steam, as seen by a recent investment from MCL (Mahanadi Coalfields Limited). With a whopping ₹4.56 crore investment, MCL aims to support 30 startups in the region. This decision is a critical step in improving the entrepreneurial and innovational scene in Odisha. MCL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Foundation for Technology Business Incubator (FTBI) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela.
The newly-inked agreement between MCL and FTBI has the potential to convert Odisha into a magnet for innovation and entrepreneurship. Senior officials from MCL, FTBI, and other stakeholders attended the MoU signing event. The whole project cost is Rs 4.65 crore, and the project will last three years.

Under the terms of the agreement, the FTBI will work with MCL to offer complete support to these firms, including seed capital, skill improvement training, office equipment, and the building of R&D laboratories.
This project is designed to give a significant boost to Odisha’s startup ecosystem by providing all the tools needed to assist entrepreneurs bring their ideas to life. One of the project’s primary goals will be to encourage female entrepreneurs. MCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project would provide funds to build and operate the startups.
