Amit Sharma Joins Gokaldas Exports Limited as Chief Human Resources Officer
Amit Sharma has embarked on a new journey as the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Gokaldas Exports Limited, a globally renowned apparel manufacturer known for its product quality, performance, processes, and people.
Gokaldas Exports, at the heart of the garment industry, emphasizes ethical and inclusive practices. With a workforce of approximately 50,000 employees, 80% of whom are women, spread across 35+ units globally, and exporting to over 50 countries, Sharma is poised to make a significant impact on both the company and its employees.
Sharma brings with him an extensive 25-year career in human resources, having held prominent positions such as Country CHRO, Global Business HR Head, and Member of the Board of Directors across diverse industries including healthcare, electronics, automotive, chemicals, oil & gas, and financial services. His expertise spans various HR functions, encompassing workforce strategy, organization development, change management, culture building, capability development, leadership and talent development, employee relations, engagement, and mergers and acquisitions.
In his most recent role as Vice President – HR at Volvo Group in India, Sharma was instrumental in providing strategic HR leadership across multiple entities and businesses. His achievements include rejuvenating the corporate culture, developing cross-business talent forums, enhancing HR team competencies, and driving inclusion and diversity initiatives. Under his leadership, Volvo Group India was recognized as a Great Place to Work.
Sharma’s previous roles include HR leadership positions at TE Connectivity, Philips Health Systems, Johnson & Johnson Medical, Indian Oil, and Ballarpur Industries. His career highlights include crafting HR strategies, developing high-potential employee frameworks, managing post-merger integrations, and setting up greenfield organizations.
At Gokaldas Exports Limited, Sharma is a part of the Group Leadership Team, playing a pivotal role in shaping and streamlining the HR function to support business growth globally.
