Amazon Appoints Samir Kumar as Country Manager for India
In a significant leadership change, Amazon announced on Wednesday that Samir Kumar will take over as the new Country Manager for India, following the resignation of Manish Tiwary. Kumar, currently the Vice President of International Consumer at Amazon, is expected to assume operational responsibilities starting October 1, 2024.
With over 25 years of experience in the industry, Samir Kumar has held various leadership positions within Amazon, including Vice President of Category Management for Amazon India and Director of International Expansion. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in growing Amazon’s exports and expanding its global reach.
Kumar, who holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Utah State University and a B.E. in Electronics Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Rourkela, will work closely with Manish Tiwary during the transition phase to ensure a smooth handover.
This leadership change comes at a critical time as Amazon continues to expand its operations in India, one of its largest growth markets globally.
